TOWN OF AURORA SENIOR CENTER
  4
  DIRECTOR’S REPORT
  Month of May 2026

The mission of the Town of Aurora Senior Center is to help older adults remain healthy and active through participation in recreational pursuits and to provide
leadership and advocacy to ensure the availability of leisure and recreational opportunities for seniors.
ADMINISTRATION:
Crisis Services presented a Suicide Preventation and Gun Violence training here at the center on May 11" for our staff and various centers in Erie County. It was an
excellent workshop on identifying seniors in need of help, where to turn for support, and how our staff can be of assistance.
We held our annual Volunteer Reception on May 21* with over 65 seniors participating. They provide a much-needed service for our center. Our instructors and kitchen
volunteers go above and beyond.
Erie County Office for the Aging offered a new program, Walk with Ease, for our members. Fitness instructors along with our dietician presented a motivating series to
encourage everyone to get out and move. The program ran through the month of May every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
