Town of Aurora | Work Session | July 21, 2026 2) NY Stingers baseball, use of fields: Jason Kline from NY Stingers Baseball was present to discuss his company’s use of the Town’s baseball diamonds. His company is a baseball training academy that currently rents an indoor training facility and office space at 300 Gleed Avenue in the Village of East Aurora. When he put in a request to utilize the fields, he was quoted $50/game. He brought his request to the Board to ask if that price could be reduced or waived, as he hoped they would be able to use the fields any time they are not in use by the Town programs, and for practice as well as games. They currently host games for 22 baseball teams and 7 softball teams at various diamond in the area but would also like to have the ability to host “home” games. Kline noted that his company brings in people from all over Western New York, and that most parents patronize local businesses and restaurants while their children are training at their facilities. He mentioned his company would also be willing to supply manpower and supplies to supplement their usage of the diamonds. Supervisor Snyder suggested that the Board would need to see a set schedule that they would like to use the fields, and Deputy Supervisor McCann agreed, adding they would also need to look in on the toll that additional wear and tear would take on the fields, as well as the Town’s resources. He also mentioned that the request seemed reasonable, and that the $50/game quote was most likely based on someone wanting to come in and play one game one time as opposed to regular use of the facilities, and that once all aspects are taken into account, a more reasonable quote could likely be given. Councilmember Garvey also agreed and expressed the need for garbage and recycling to be considered when hosting games. 3) Building Department software: Code Enforcement Officer Elizabeth Cassidy brought the Board her research on a new software program for the Building Department. The current program that has been in use since 2020 is, in her words, clunky and not intuitive enough for their needs. They do not use the code portion of the software, instead they still use the old paper method, and there is nothing in the software for Fire Inspections. Cassidy looked into two software programs, one that uses AI for plan reviews but still lacks any program for Fire Inspection scheduling and processing, and the other being iWorq by Apple. This program has everything they are looking for, as well as a public facing portal for online payments. It would be a 3-year contract and cost $20,000 annually, and if the contract can be signed by the end of July 2026, the company would reduce the implementation fee from $12,000 to $250. They also offered to begin implementation immediately and then begin invoicing for us in January of 2027. After the 3-year contract is up, it would be a year-to-year contract moving forward. Deputy Supervisor McCann asked if any other municipalities in the area are currently using iWorq, and Elizabeth explained that she spoke with several other towns in the area that use the system and they were pleased with the customer service of the company, as well as how user friendly the software is. Supervisor Snyder questioned how much the current software costs, and Code Enforcement Officer Cassidy explained that it is $16,000 a year, and that the contract is up next year and that the cost will most likely increase if the contract is renewed. Disaster/HAZMAT Coordinator Dan Dytchkowskyj was also in attendance and chimed in that he had been tasked with finding a new emergency alert system and found a platform called CivicPlus that encompasses what the Building Department needs, as well as, possibly, all the other departments. He said it may be worth holding off on signing a contract until this software is considered. The Board as well as Code Enforcement Officer Cassidy agreed that she will reach out to the company for a demonstration of CivicPlus and compare the two programs. 4) Waste Management meeting: Supervisor Snyder wanted to remind the Board that a representative from Waste Management will be at the upcoming Board Meeting on Monday, July 27, 2026.
