TO: Honorable Town Board FROM: Mary Sherman, Councilmember DATE: June 29, 2026 SUBJECT: Councilmember Sherman re Park Renaming Proposal Requested Action: Please approve the Resolution as recommended by the Joint Veterans Committee and Recreation Commission for the renaming of three (3) Town Parks. Westgate Park - Proposed Park Rename - Sgt. Daniel J. Shaw Memorial Park (Operation Iraqi Freedom) Carriage Park - Proposed Park Rename - Lt. Peter J. Donlon Memorial Park (World War II) Mill Road Park - Proposed Park Rename - PFC Paul J. Kronthaler Memorial Park (Vietnam) RESOLUTION: Whereas, the Joint Veterans Committee presented a recommendation to the Town Board to rename three (3) Town Parks in honor of West Seneca Veterans that made the ultimate sacrifice while serving the United States of America. Whereas, the Town Board fully supported this recommendation and directed the Joint Veterans Committee to coordinate with the Recreation Commission to select the parks within the Town to be renamed. Whereas, it is within the authority of the Town Board to confirm the recommendations. Now be it therefore resolved, that the Town Board of the Town of West Seneca hereby confirms the recommendations made by the Joint Veterans Committee and the Recreation Commission and renames the following parks: Westgate Park - will now be known as Sgt. Daniel J. Shaw Memorial Park Carriage Park - will now be known as Lt. Peter J. Donlon Memorial Park Page 27 of 253
