PUBLIC EXPRESSION: Jennifer Schmitt, 102 Holiday Lane, submitted a letter and photos regarding
an issue with the traffic on Holiday Lane just after the curve heading towards Sunset Drive. She had
previously asked about getting a stop sign put in to slow traffic down coming around the curve, and cited
several traffic incidents where damage was done to private property along that route. Ms. Schmitt said
she is concerned when backing out of her driveway and shoveling the driveway. The photos submitted
showed a December 3, 2025 incident where a vehicle struck her mailbox. She would like to know the
process for getting a stop sign in that area. If not a stop sign, can something be done to slow traffic down
like a speed bump or other “slow down” signage.
Jessica Rayna, 149 E. Prospect, is hoping to hold the “It Takes A Village” 5K Run on June 6, 2026, using
the same route as 2025. Last year 350+ runners participated and $7,000 was raised and given back to
the Hamburg Schools. They are looking to have even more runners this year and want to target the
money for programs that helps kids feel valued. Ms. Rayna said of the 359 who participated last year,
160 of were young people under the age of 18, and 120 were under 12. The run promotes social
connections, builds confidence, helps kids in setting goals and also keeps them active.
