PUBLIC EXPRESSION: Joyce Bigelow, 103 Long Avenue, is concerned about the traffic on Long
Avenue. She cited cars travelling at high speeds from Center to Pierce, and she is concerned about the
many children and grandchildren in that area. Ms. Bigelow would like the Village to consider speed humps
to slow down traffic or even digital speed notification. She said she spoke with the police and they are
willing to set up speed traps, but there is really no place for the police to “hide” along that route. Mayor
Tallman thanked Ms. Bigelow for coming in and said the police will step up patrols in that area. The Mayor
said emergency personnel do not love the speed humps, but he has talked with the DPW Superintendent
about the possibility of additional signage or other alternatives. Ms. Bigelow noted the most egregious
time is from 3-9 p.m.

Department of Public Work.: DPW Superintendent Marc Shuttleworth said his crews are working on
sidewalks, among other things, so if anyone has high sidewalks and would like them replaced, please call
down to the DPW and they will get them on the schedule.
FURTHER PUBLIC EXPRESSION: Bob Sillence, 339 Pleasant Avenue, submitted a document that he
said was a right-of-way the Village secured in 1925 to access property along the former train station
between Haviland and Pleasant Avenue, noting that that does not make it a street. Village Attorney Ed
Murphy reminded Mr. Sillence they had previously discussed the document, and the Village is still trying
to make a determination if there was a right of way. In the meantime, the Village is still negotiating with
the current owners of the property.
MAYOR’S REPORT: Mayor Tallman reminded everyone that the mid-week Market has returned to the
Village on Wednesdays from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The Mayor also announced that Slow Roll Hamburg
is coming up on Thursday, July 30 from 6-9 pm, with the bikers starting at Coyote Café.
Finally, Mayor Tallman reiterated that Burgerfest was a success despite the calls for bad weather, and he
thanked the Department of Public Works for all of the efforts in getting the Burgerfest banner up.
