Town Hall Generator – Change Order CCN02 – Abandon the existing electrical feeders and run entirely new from the pole as shown. The electrical feeders would be directionally drilled underneath the existing driveway into the new manhole. Positives for this scenario are: a. The entire circuit from Pole to building would be replaced. The existing feeder that would remain (as designed and under CCN03) from pole to manhole would be 1977 vintage. If we proceeded with this scope of work now, the Town could avoid a new project later to replace the existing section of cables (and have to dig anything back up). That would save on design/review time (by engineer/contractor), mobilization, inflated cost of material, etc. b. Minimized electrical shutdown time. This work would probably require a few hours of electrical shutdown to complete. c. Fewer unknowns. Doesn’t require additional excavation. Doesn’t rely on reuse of the feeders and their unknown condition. Negatives for this scenario are: Cost is $34,364.93 CCN03 – Attempt to intercept the existing feeders near the south light post at the sidewalk/entrance to the building. Excavation would be completed as carefully as possible not to disturb the curb, asphalt, sidewalk and/or stairs. Once the feeders have been located, they would be disconnected from within the building and pulled back to the excavation location. The existing feeders would then be routed to the new manhole location where they would splice into the new section of feeders. Positives for this scenario are: a. The Cost. $16,025.13…if everything goes well (see below). Negatives for this scenario are: a. We would be banking on the ability to pull the existing feeders back and not damaging them in the process. If they are damaged, new feeders would then need to be pulled from the pole. (Cost not included) b. Involves creating a small/tight excavation as to minimize damage to driveway and adjacent concrete. (I have asked IPL to define the limits of assumed excavation so that we could assess and determine additional costs, if necessary) c. Longer shutdown time. This work would probably require a 2-day electrical shutdown. IPL’s cost does not include a temporary generator for this time, if necessary. (I have asked IPL for this cost). d. Disturbance to existing planter bed. Would potentially require Parks staff to remove/replace plantings. 200
