Reports and Presentations:

Highway Superintendent Telaak reported on the following:
Regarding a bucket truck, he indicated agreement with a 50/50 cost-sharing
arrangement between the Highway and Parks departments, noting that the
Town should move forward on acquiring a bucket truck before the holiday
season to accommodate flag removal, light changes, and holiday
decorations. Reported a drainage issue at the Parks building, where a rotted
pipe leading from a receiver has caused a hole to develop in the parking lot.
Investigation and repair work is anticipated in the next one to two weeks,
with the possibility that additional piping may need to be replaced if further
deterioration is found. Brush pickup is ongoing and going well, wood chips
are available to residents upon completion of a request form. Highway crews
have been mowing shoulders, performing skid paving and edge repairs, and
preparing plow trucks for winter and completing inspections.
With regard to salt supply, salt has been delivered but fell short of the
quantities ordered. The price of salt increased on September 1st from $57
per ton to $93 per ton. Will talk to the Town attorney to work with the
County attorney on a potential class-action with other affected
municipalities. Confident that salt on hand is sufficient for the start of
  winter.

Councilwoman Selby reported on the following:
Extended wishes for a safe and happy Labor Day weekend and reminded the
public that school would be resuming shortly, asking motorists to exercise
patience with school buses during the early weeks of the year as routes are
adjusted and keep an eye out for children.

Councilman Penders reported on the following:
Attended a meeting with the fire departments the previous evening and
received an informative overview of the considerable costs associated with
firefighting equipment, particularly noting that certain equipment expires in
regard to date of manufacture rather than condition or mileage,
necessitating replacement regardless of use. A code update meeting is
scheduled for the following week. Zoning Board meeting would be held the
following evening with six or seven items on the agenda. Acknowledged the
25th anniversary of September 11th, expressing respect for those involved
and for individuals still suffering from illnesses resulting from their
  response to the attacks.
