Road is larger than the MUTCD suggested 30” size for this condition, it is recommended that 36” STOP signs with CROSS TRAFFIC DOES NOT STOP sub-plaques and red reflective post strips be dual posted, meaning one on the right side of the road and one on the left side of road. In addition, the Stop Ahead warning sign and yellow reflective post strip cover will be relocated closer to the intersection to meet current design guidelines. The Erie County DPW has found the use of reflective post strip covers highly effective at drawing driver attention to critical signs. This work will be completed by Erie County forces. While an all-way STOP is not recommended at this time, the signage changes are expected to improve driver awareness of the existing stop control and reduce crash rates at this intersection.
