CROSS TRAFFIC DOES NOT STOP sub-plaques and red reflective post strips. These 36” STOP signs are larger than the MUTCD suggested 30” size for this condition and are recommended to remain. Stop Ahead warning signage with a yellow reflective post strip cover will be installed on Rice Road for westbound traffic approaching the intersection. The Erie County DPW has found the use of reflective post strip covers highly effective at drawing driver attention to critical signs. This work will be completed by Erie County forces. While an all-way STOP is not recommended at this time, the signage changes are expected to improve driver awareness of the existing stop control and reduce crash rates at this intersection.
