EAST AVRORA BASEBALL & SOFTBALL September 17, 2026 Dear Town of Aurora Board Members, East Aurora Baseball & Softball (EABB&SB ) is excited to be working with the Town and several community partners on a project of Aurora to add permanent lighting to the 42 North baseb and softball field. all This project represents a significant investment in the future of our baseball and softball complex and, more importantly, in the recre ational opportunities available to children families throughout our community. The fieid and serves players of all ages for both baseball softball, and adding lights would allow us to and significantly expand the number of games and practices that can be held there, particularly during the Spring and fall when limited dayli restricts our schedule. ght We have made a significant effort to build commu nity support for this project and reduce its overall cost. To date, we have secured commi tments for approximately $13,000 in light from Ferguson Electric and the lighting fixtur poles es from Bernie Bunny. We are also committed to conducting our own fundraising efforts to help offset the remaining expenses. The current estimated project costs include: Six 60-foot utility poles: $1 3,000 — donated by Ferguson Electric Lighting fixtures: $13,604 — donated by Berni e Bunny Brackets and hardware: Approximately $9,000 Pole installation: $6,380.72 Conduit and wire: Approximately $6,000 We are asking the Town of Aurora to contribute toward the remaining project costs and provide municipal resources and expertise where appro priate to help bring the project to completion. Because the Town owns and manages the compl ex, the completed lighting system will become a permanent improvement to Town recreational infrastructure, benefiting not only EABB&SB's current players and families, but future generation s of residents and other groups using the fields. EABB&SB will continue fundraising and seeking private support, but we believe the investment in this permanent improvement should be shared. General - Poles Page 1 of 2 in this chapter Wood Pole Installation Notes: 1) Poles shall be handled with care, so as not to damage the wood or preservative treatment, 2) Poles shall be lifted off the pole hauler/trailer at designated structure locations and not rolled or dragged along the ground.. Lifting slings that do not damage the poles shall be used. Pole tongs are not permitted. The butt of.a pole shall not be cut. Pole tops shall be cut only if approved by the designer and line supervisor. Poles shall be set exactly vertical and in line with each other wherever possible. At angles in the line and at points of excessive strain (such as permanent dead-ends), the pole shall be guyed. The pole shall also be given a rake against the strain at the bottom, so that the top of the pole will be in line, The rake shall be one foot for every thirty (30) feet of pole height above the ground line, Refer to DCS-OH-GC-06-300 for pole raking. When unusual conditions are encountered or for angle poles that cannot be properly back guyed, consult the designer about manner of installation. Refer to DCS-OH-GC-06 for unguyed poles, Table 2 is the calculated pole butt diameter based on height and class (ANSI 05.1) using a 0.21/ft circumference taper. The minimum size auger hole diameter shall be the measured pole butt diameter, plus at least twice the working width of the a tamping tool. General - Poles Page 2 of 2 in this chapter 7) When a pole cannot be immediately set, a hole covering will be placed to prevent any disturbances of the hole (see Figure 2). 8) Allholes are to be dug straight down. All backfill is to be power tamped and compacted in 1-foot lifts, If the excavated material is found to be unsuitable for use as backfill, use bank run gravel or a well-graded crushed stone with #1 crushed stone as maximum size. 9) On side hills, hole depth shall be measured from the downhill side of hole. Pole in sloping ground shall be set to the depth in Figure 3. 10) In cases where a new pole is more than 5 feet taller than the existing adjacent pole, the immediately adjacent poles should be changed so that there is no more than a 5-foot height difference from pole to pole to prevent uplift. a. The new adjacent pole(s) being set shall be the correct height for the area but framed to comply with the 5’ height difference rule. b. For example, a new 50’ recloser pole will be set in an area with 40’ poles. i. ifthe correct height pole for this area is 45’, the pole next to the recloser pole on each side must be replaced with a 45’ pole, framed as a 45’ pole, The other 40’ poles may remain in service. TOWN OF AURORA 575 OAKWOOD AVENUE, EAST AURORA, NY 14052 BUILDING DEPARTMENT : (716) 652-7591 MEMO TO: Supervisor Snyder and Town Board Members FROM: _ Elizabeth Cassidy, Code Enforcement Officer DATE: — September 10, 2026 To recap our site visit yesterday at the library: e The upper ramp, depending on where you measure from, may be compliant with slope in the direction of travel. e The slope perpendicular to the direction of travel (cross slope) shall not be more than 1:48 and the upper ramp has a slope greater than this, 2025 NYSBC 1012.3. e The intermediate landing remains non-compliant with BC1012.6.4, since the landing is not 60” by 60” minimum. The lower ramp is not compliant with the 1:12 slope limit of BC1012.2 The lower landing is not compliant with the 1:48 slope allowance BC1012.6.1 The transitions between the ramps and landings must be flush The handrails lack the required extensions BC1014.7 In the best interest of the Town and in order to maintain safe ingress and egress from the library, the whole ramp should be replaced (ramps, landings, etc). Removal and replacement of both sloped areas only would require the entire ramp to become compliant. Total replacement will require stamped plans and a building permit. I would not object to repairing the minimum areas of the ramp that are in disrepair with the understanding that the larger project would be prioritized in the near future. liz
