Ie East Aurora / Town of Aurora Police Department Interdepartmental Correspondence To: Mayor Luke Wochensky & Village Board; Supervisor Charles Snyder & Town Board From: Patrick Welch, Chief of Police Date: September 18th, 2026 Re: Monthly Report - August 2026 General Information Meetings: In addition to Village Board, Town Board and Staff meetings I also attended the following: Conducted three in person final pistol permit interviews Conducted one interview for vacant Police Officer position Met with Jen Brazil of Borderland Music Festival Met with grant writer Robbyn Drake about NYS law enforcement technology grant Met with Erie County Legislator Lindsay Lorigo Attended Maple Road Construction Project Meeting Attended Op Overwatch Chiefs and Sheriffs PTSD training Attended Erie Crime Analysis Board of Director’s Meeting Special Events: e On Tuesday, August 4 we brought back National Night Out after more than 15 years. The event was a total success. Local businesses and citizens donated funds to make the event completely free, minus salaries. Participating departments were East Aurora Fire Department, Homeland Security Border Patrol Helicopter, New York State Police K-9, West Falls Fire Department, Orchard Park- East Aurora Police ERT Team, Town of Aurora Recreation Department and private vendors. We estimated that the event attracted over 2000 people. e The annual East Aurora American Legion Car Show was held on Sunday, August 30*, The event ran smoothly and was well attended, despite some inclement weather.
