Re:919 Mill Road Local Landmark Recommendation

Dear Members of the West Seneca Town Board,

At its regularly scheduled public meeting held on April 1, 2026, the Town of West Seneca Historic Preservation
Commission reviewed the nomination materials and voted unanimously to recommend the property located at 919
Mill Road, West Seneca, New York for designation as a Local Landmark pursuant to Chapter 78C of the Town Code.

This recommendation is based upon the Commission’s evaluation of the property’s historical and architectural
significance, as documented in the attached nomination packet. As outlined therein, the structure, historically
known as the Lower Ebenezer Society House, represents a rare and intact example of the Ebenezer Society’s
communal architecture and is directly associated with the Community of True Inspiration, an important chapter in
both local and national history. The building’s evolution, relocation, and continued public use further reinforce its
significance within the Town’s cultural landscape.

The Commission finds that the property satisfies multiple criteria for designation, including its association with
significant historical movements, its embodiment of distinctive architectural characteristics, and its role as a
recognizable and meaningful feature within the community.

Accordingly, the Historic Preservation Commission respectfully recommends that the Town Board proceed with the
formal designation of 919 Mill Road as a Local Landmark.

Please note that official meeting minutes documenting this action are currently pending formal approval and will be
provided to the Town Board upon adoption following our May 2026 meeting.

Enclosed please find the full nomination materials submitted and reviewed by the Commission in support of this
recommendation.

We appreciate your consideration and are available to provide any additional information or clarification as needed.
Respectfully submitted,

Respectfully,

Paul R. Lang, AIA
Chair of the Town of West Seneca Historic Commission
