The initial April time frame has been postponed to September 1, 2026 in order to allow for enough time to communicate and prepare residents for this change. Totes are expected to arrive sometime mid-August. The board discussed doing what they can to get the messaging out as soon as possible, ideally beginning in May with the support of communication materials from Waste Management. There was further discussion about resident schedules for delivery of bins, timeline expectations for/from Waste Management, how to get rid of your old garbage cans, bulk pick up frequency and the request processes for smaller totes or more totes for the property. As far as an opportunity for the public to hear directly from Waste Management, representatives will attend an upcoming town board meeting to present information to the board, and public will be able to pose questions and feedback to the board. 6) Planning Board Responsibility for 2025 Comprehensive Plan Review: Planning Board Member Tim Stroth made an inquiry of the board seeking direction about what is expected of the Planning Board in review of the 2025 Comprehensive Plan prior to the March 9 public hearing. Bearing in mind the short timeline, the plan is to submit comments to the board so as not to impede the progress of the Comprehensive Plan. Mr. Stroth asked for specific direction about what’s needed from the Planning board. Councilmember Wrazen stated it would be helpful to look at the community’s priorities collected via surveys that may have conflicts, e.g. concerns about overdevelopment but the lack of senior/workforce housing to see if the outcome of the plan addresses all the feedback sensibly and reasonably.
