WEST SENECA COURT ROOM DRAFT TOWN BOARD 1250 Union Road Minutes Meeting # 2026-12 West Seneca, NY 14224 June 29, 2026 Councilmember Sherman made the following comments: On this, the 250th Anniversary of the founding of our great nation, we honor the young men and women who took up arms to overthrow British rule and fought to make our country free. As citizens of the United States of America we need to honor and remember those who still fight to keep our country safe and free. There are way too many individuals who went over-and-above and gave their lives to defend our country and our values. They need to be recognized for their sacrifice, which is why the West Seneca Joint Veterans Committee has proposed renaming the following three Town Parks in their honor. Parks to be renamed as follows: Westgate Park Sgt. Daniel J. Shaw Memorial Park (Chippewa Court) (Operation Iraqi Freedom) Carriage Park Lt. Peter J. Donlon Memorial Park (Carriage Park) (World War II) Mill Road Park PFC Paul J. Kronthaler Memorial Park (Mill Road) (Vietnam) Councilmember Robertson read the attached biography of Sgt. Daniel J. Shaw. Councilmember Priore read the attached biography of Lt. Peter J. Donlon. Councilmember Breidenstein read the attached biography of PFC Paul J. Kronthaler. Motion by Councilmember Sherman, seconded by Councilmember Breidenstein, to adopt the following resolution as recommended by the Joint Veterans Committee and Recreation Commission for the renaming of three town parks: Whereas, the Joint Veterans Committee presented a recommendation to the Town Board to rename three (3) Town Parks in honor of West Seneca Veterans that made the ultimate sacrifice while serving the United States of America. Whereas, the Town Board fully supported this recommendation and directed the Joint Veterans Committee to coordinate with the Recreation Commission to select the parks within the Town to be renamed. Whereas, it is within the authority of the Town Board to confirm the recommendations. Now be it therefore resolved, that the Town Board of the Town of West Seneca hereby confirms the recommendations made by the Joint Veterans Committee and the Recreation Commission and renames the following parks: Westgate Park - will now be known as Sgt.
