measures, including installing French drains. Mr. Rich said he spoke with about 20 residents on 4 Streets
in that area and only one had no flooding. Even those that have installed sump pumps and/or French drains
flooded again. He asked if the system functioned for this long without issues, something must have changed.
He noted that it seemed like it surcharged and pushed back to the residents. Capping has not necessarily
been effective and he felt they should not have to compensate for municipal surcharge.

Jenna Bajdas, 67 Randall Terrace, said they have a fully furnished basement, including moving her son’s
bedroom down there after there was damage from ice damning and now she is looking at $20,000+ in
estimates to cleanup and repair.

Mayor Tallman thanked everyone for coming out and for all of their comments. He said that following the
heavy rains two years ago, engineering conducted a study and the Village made changes, including the
addition of receivers in that area, increasing the size of the grates, clearing of the outfall, and the Village
also applied for a grant, which they unfortunately were not awarded. They continue to look for other grant
opportunities. They will also go back to the engineers and evaluate the situation once again. Additional
DPW employees were called out to assist, but there was flooding over other areas of the village, and they
had to work in those other areas as well. The Mayor said he appreciates the residents who came out to
assist in clearing some of the receivers, as there are hundreds of them throughout the village. With more
than 2.5” of rain in a very short period of time, the system was overwhelmed. The Mayor said they will keep
people apprised of what they find and welcomed them to attend any future meetings.
