JUNE 15, 2026
Be it enacted by the Board of Trustees of the Village of Hamburg as follows:
ARTICLE I Removal of Grass, Weeds, Brush and Debris
§ 182-1. Duty of owner or occupant.
It shall be the duty of every owner, occupant or person having charge of lands within the
Village to cut down or cause to be cut down all overgrown weeds, grass, brush and other
vegetation and to remove or cause to be removed all garbage and tree limbs or other debris on
said land as necessary to maintain such land in a sanitary and orderly condition. It shall be
a violation of this article to allow grass, weeds or brush to grow to a height exceeding 10
  inches, on average.

§ 182-2. Enforcing official; notification of noncompliance.
It shall be the duty of the Code Enforcement Officer to see that the provisions of this
article are enforced. Where violations of this article exist the Code Enforcement Officer shall
provide written notice to the owner of the property, via certified and regular mail, of the
violation(s). Such notice shall give the owner 10 days to correct the violation(s) and to comply
with the requirements of this article.

§ 182-3. Performance of work by Village.
  A. After the expiration of the 10-day notice, the Code Enforcement Officer shall reinspect the
property. If the owner has failed to comply with said notice, the Code Enforcement Officer
shall coordinate with the Village of Hamburg Superintendent of Public Works to do the work.
The Superintendent may, in his or her discretion, use Village personnel or a private
contractor to do the work. In either case, a charge shall be made to cover the cost incurred
  to accomplish the work required.
  B. After the initial performance of the work on the property by the Village or private contractor,
if the owner continues to fail to comply with the requirements of this article, the Code
Enforcement Officer may, upon re-inspection of the property, order additional work on the
property to bring the property into compliance with the requirements of this article. Each
such order must be preceded by a written 10-day notice compiled and served in accordance
with the requirements of this article. There shall be no limit on the number of occasions work
is performed on the property to maintain compliance with the requirements of this article, so
long as each occasion is preceded by an inspection and reinspection by the Code
Enforcement Officer and the required 10- day notice.

§ 182-4. Reports and assessments.
All costs and expenses incurred by the Village of Hamburg enforcing this article shall be certified by
the Superintendent of Public Works to the Village of Hamburg Receiver of Taxes and shall be added to
the next assessment roll for the Village of Hamburg taxes against the property, and shall be collected
and enforced in the same manner as other taxes for the property. The Code Enforcement Officer shall
keep an account of all notices, inspections and work done on each property and shall provide a monthly
report to the Village Board and the Village Administrator.
