Re: Proposed Town Board Meeting Agenda Format Addition

Pursuant to prior Town Board discussions, it is proposed that a “Response to Public Comment” be added
as a standing agenda item for Town Board meetings on a 90-day pilot basis. The Youth and Recreation
Commission has successfully used a similar process to provide timely, direct responses to resident
concerns.
The pilot would take effect on February 9, 2026, and would occur immediately following the first public
comment agenda item. This structure is intended to promote respectful, civil engagement by allowing
residents to be heard while giving Town Board members adequate time to listen, consider, and respond
thoughtfully.
Consistent with standard municipal practice, a public statement outlining public comment expectations
will be read prior to the first public comment period and reaffirmed before any subsequent public
comment agenda items.

RESOLUTION NO. ____ OF 2026
ADOPTING A 90-DAY PILOT “RESPONSE TO PUBLIC COMMENT” AGENDA ITEM
WHEREAS, the Town Board seeks to enhance transparency, communication, and respectful civic engagement
at Town Board meetings; and
WHEREAS, the Town Board has discussed the addition of a structured opportunity for Board responses to
public comments; and
WHEREAS, the Board desires to implement this practice on a pilot basis to evaluate its effectiveness;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Town Board hereby adopts a 90-day pilot addition of a
“Response to Public Comment” as a standing agenda item at Town Board meetings, effective February 9, 2026
through May 8, 2026; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the “Response to Public Comment” agenda item shall occur immediately
following the first public comment period at each Town Board meeting during the pilot period; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that prior to the first public comment session at each Town Board meeting, the
following public statement shall be read into the record:
