TOWN OF AURORA
  Climate Smart Community Taskforce

August 26, 2026
Town of Aurora Town Board
RE: Letter of Support — Sponsorship of a Paint Recycling Event with GreenSheen Paint
Dear Members of the Town Board:

On behalf of the Town of Aurora Climate Smart Community Taskforce, we are writing to express our unanimous
support for the Town Board's authorization to sponsor a free paint recycling event in partnership with GreenSheen
Paint. This letter follows a discussion of the proposed partnership at the Taskforce's regular meeting held on August
19, 2026, at which the initiative received the full and unanimous support of the members present.

This proposed event directly advances the Taskforce's and the Town's shared goals of furthering environmental
stewardship and responsible waste management. GreenSheen Paint's program offers meaningful, well-documented
benefits that align with our community's sustainability objectives:

e Proven environmental impact: GreenSheen maintains an industry-leading 92% paint-to-paint recycling rate,
ensuring that the vast majority of collected material is diverted from landfills and waterways and returned
  to productive use.

e Established New York State presence: GreenSheen's paint recycling platform is already succeeding in New
York State, with proven partnerships in Erie, Niagara, and Rensselaer Counties, among others,
demonstrating a track record of successful local collaboration.

e Zero cost to the Town: The event is offered at no cost to the Town through state paint stewardship
  initiatives.

e Turnkey, professionally managed operation: GreenSheen handles all labor, packaging, transportation,
signage, and on-site setup, and provides a certificate of insurance for incidentals, minimizing burden and
  risk to the Town.

e Verified, measurable results: The Town will receive detailed post-event reporting on the amount of paint
collected and recycled, allowing the Taskforce and Town Board to accurately measure progress toward our
  environmental goals.

e Positive resident experience: GreenSheen provides an integrated resident registration platform and
comprehensive event support, ensuring the event is convenient and accessible to Aurora residents and
  businesses.

By hosting this event, the Town would provide residents with a safe, convenient, and free way to dispose of leftover
latex paint, while diverting hazardous material from local landfills and waterways — a tangible step toward the
environmental stewardship objectives shared by the Taskforce and the Town of Aurora.

The Climate Smart Community Taskforce respectfully requests that the Town Board authorize the Town to move
forward as a host partner for this paint recycling event. We are glad to answer any questions and to assist in any way
as this partnership moves forward.

Thank you for your consideration and for your continued commitment to environmental stewardship in the Town of
Aurora.

Respectfully,

Councilmember Benjamin Garvey- Town of Aurora Climate Smart Community Taskforce Liaison
