Village of East Aurora Water System Improvements July 2026
SEQRA Part 3 Supporting Information

A. PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The Village of East Aurora owns and operates a public water distribution system that serves
residents and businesses throughout the Village. Portions of the existing water system do not
meet current New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) standards and have reached the
end of their useful life, resulting in operational and maintenance challenges. The proposed
project consists of improvements to bring the system into compliance with current NYSDOH
standards and address identified deficiencies. Improvements include replacement of
approximately 37,000 linear feet of undersized water main with new 8-inch ductile iron water
main, replacement of approximately 50 hydrants and 70 gate valves, transfer of approximately
550 water services to the new mains, rehabilitation of the existing water storage tanks on
Center Street and Castle Hill Road, and replacement of the existing booster pump station on
Elmwood Avenue with a new hydropneumatic system to improve system redundancy, maintain
adequate water pressure, and improve fire flow capacity. Construction will occur primarily
within existing roadway rights-of-way and at existing utility facilities.

The proposed improvements are shown on Figure 1, attached.

B. COORDINATED REVIEW

A resolution declaring the Village of East Aurora Village Board's intent to act as Lead Agency for

location map were sent electronically to the interested and involved agencies listed in Table 1
on June 24, 2026 to initiate a coordinated review of the proposed action.
