TOWN OF AURORA
  TOWN BOARD WORK SESSION
  January 20, 2026

The following members of the Aurora Town Board met on Tuesday, December 16, 2025
at 6:30 p.m. for the purpose of holding a work session. The Board met in-person at the Aurora
Municipal Center, 575 Oakwood Avenue, East Aurora, New York.
  Present: Luke Wochensky Councilmember
  Joseph McCann Councilmember
  Raymond M. Wrazen Councilmember
  Charles D. Snyder Supervisor
  Absent/Excused: Brigid Maloney Town Attorney
  Jessica Armbrust Councilmember

Others present: Meaghan Tent Recreation Dept.

Supervisor Snyder opened the session at 6:30 p.m. with the recitation of the Pledge of
Allegiance to the Flag.

1) Presentation of plans for new courtroom at 571 Main Street:

Paul Ernst from FFAE presented the plans for the new courtroom above the police
station. The current courtroom is outdated and unsafe. Updates will include more security,
including security doors at all access points that will be locked during business hours and
guarded during court. There will be two conference rooms for meetings with lawyers or the DA.
The bench itself will be moved from its current position to the opposite side of the room, closer
to the judge’s chambers. An ADA compliant lift will be installed to get up the 3 steps to the
bench if needed.
Councilmember Wochensky asked about electrical for screens in the waiting room to
show people when they are due in the courtroom, no such plans for that at this time.
Councilmember McCann asked about people paying fines during the day, there will be a window
they can pay them at, much like the current set up. Mr. Ernst’s proposal for his work, and
working with someone to do the millwork, construction documents and monitoring during
construction came in at around $48,000. CM Wochensky asked about the cost of the whole
project, Supervisor Snyder believes its around $400,000 and includes some asbestos removal
from the adhesive used for the original carpets. Timeline will be clearer once all numbers are
firmed up.

2) EA Bike Bus using Town Hall lot for two evening events:

Mike Robinson spoke to the board regarding the Village Play Bike Bus using the parking
lot of Town Hall for their two evening events that occur during the school year, one in the fall
and one in the spring/summer. They have used it once before with EAFD providing some
blocking and an escort down to Parkdale. The next event is Tuesday, June 23rd, and they are
looking for more formal approval to use the lot. CM Wochensky suggested getting the Highway
Department involved for use of blockades. Supervisor Snyder asked if all participants arrive by
bike, or if some come by car w/bikes. It was noted some do come by car, but they are instructed
to find street parking. Meaghan Tent brought up some safety concerns, as well as debris left
behind (sidewalk chalk) and Mr. Robinson stated they are looking into ways to improve safety,
starting with getting formal approval and the start of a non-profit to get a certificate of insurance.
In conclusion, Supervisor Snyder, CM Wochensky, or both, will have a meeting with the
Highway Department about the event, and a formal writing of a policy regarding the use of the
lot being written up, similar to the use of parks, was discussed.
