Charles Snyder 56 From: Haines, David J (DEC) <[email protected]> Sent: Tuesday, April 28, 2026 3:41 PM To: Supervisor Ce: Chaburka, Diana U (DEC) Subject: Giant Hogweed Annual Permission Request - Site 2772 Attachments: 2025 Giant Hogweed Site 2772.pdf; Giant Hogweed Control Guide.pdf Good morning, to whom it may concern, _ This email is a request to survey for and control the giant hogweed plants found on your property this season. Because your property, Majors Park, is frequented by the public (and therefore a greater risk for people to potentially be harmed by giant hogweed), we will be offering free control services at your property for this year. Our method of control for the above property will include root-cutting with a shovel. We have also included maps of your property that were created last year (green points are 2025 hogweed presence/treated plants), showing where the hogweed plants may be located, and management recommendations (Control Guide attached) to aid in future control of giant hogweed through 3rd party contractors (not NYS DEC), if your department chooses to do so. As there is no guarantee that we will return to control giant hogweed in upcoming years, let us know if you would like to meet with us while we are at your site(s). We can show you where the plants have been located on your property and discuss how to identify and safely control giant hogweed plants, in case you should need to do so on your own in the future. Let us know if we have permission to control giant hogweed within the upcoming weeks, as it is a short window of time that can be allotted to this program. If we don’t get a response by 6/1/2026 we likely won't be able to visit your property this year. Kindly, David J.
