  Transportation Assessment
The Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE) Trip Generation Manual, 12" Edition was used
to estimate the number of trips that will be traveling to and from the site. ITE is a national
organization of transportation engineers, and the Trip Generation Manual contains
information compiled from studies by members throughout the nation,

ITE provides trip generation data for a campground (ITE Land Use Code 416), although the
data is very limited. Another related land use would be Recreational Home (ITE Land Use Code
260). The table below illustrates the estimate number of trips that would be generated during
the weekday commuter AM and PM peak hours.

  Estimated Trip Generation

  _ Campground 0 “4 4 : 1
  |Recreational Home _ 2 2 | 3 2,
As ane can see, no matter the land use that is used, only a minima! amount of traffic is
anticipated to be generated during the typical weekday commuter peak hours by the
  campground sleeping quarters

The ITE does not provide trip generation estimates for a lodge/open air gazebo, We have used
the following assumptions to develop an estimate of traffic for that use.

e = Timing of arriving and departing vehicles: it is assumed that use of the lodge/open air
gazebo would occur on Friday evenings after the typical weekday commuter peak
hour or on the weekend. Traffic will be leaving the site later the same evening and will
be distributed over a number of hours.

  * Many of the guests will travel together as couples, families or groups of friends.
Assume there will be 2 -2.5 guests per vehicle and that many of the invitees will be
  non-campers.

Using the above factors gives a range of 25 to 32 additional trips due to the lodge/open air
gazebo. This is a conservative assumption at it assumes 100% maximum capacity of the
lodge/open air gazebo. It is likely the majority of this traffic would be entering the
campground during the same hour prior to the event and departing the campground during
the same hour after the event.
