PLANNING BOARD TOWN OF MARILLA Date: July 16, 2026 Location: Marilla Community Center Time: 7:00 PM Present: Wendy Schoenwetter Clarence Wigler Debbie Zimmerman Shawn Slammon Max Strasser Paula Shatzel, Clerk Also Present: Mapendo Tumaini Absent: Cari Jaroslawsky, Deb Mamon, Scott Rider I. Call to Order The meeting was called to order at 7:00 PM by Wendy Schoenwetter. II. Approval of Minutes MOTION to approve June minutes Shawn Slammon; SECOND Max Strasser. All in favor. III. Public Expression None. IV. New Business None. V. Old Business a. Accessory Dwelling Units The Board discussed apartments versus ADUs and whether they are synonymous with one another. Wendy Schoenwetter suggested adding to the town code “Follow the town code for the apartments or ADUs regarding all utilities.” Max Strasser recommended the owner should live on the property. Wendy asked if ADU residents should carry separate insurance. The Board requested Mapendo Tumaini review the current town code including these recommendations and draft a code for the Board to review prior to the August meeting. The Board requested Scott Rider attend the August meeting to ensure accuracy when amending the Apartment code. It was unanimously decided to table the discussion and vote for this until the August meeting. VI. CEO Report None.
