Lisa J. Derrigan | Regulatory/Permitting was awarded an Engineering Planning Grant (through Big Sister Creek WRRF No Feasible Alternative NYSDEC/NYSEFC) to conduct a sewer system Analysis evaluation of flows in the District. The sewer system evaluation included flow monitoring analysis and Senior Project Engineer | hydraulic modeling to develop alternatives to abate the Erie County Division of Sewerage Management | remaining SSOs. Alternatives evaluated included green Evans, NY, USA infrastructure, infiltration and inflow (I/I) removal, and Lisa conducted technical evaluations for the No Feasible sewer/pump station upgrades. Alternative (NFA) analysis for the Erie County Sewer District No. 2 facilities, including the Big Sister Creek SPDES Permit Compliance Assistance WRRF and Overflow Retention Facility (ORF). The Senior Project Engineer | County was required to complete the NFA analysis as Niagara County Sewer District No. 1 | part of the WWTP's State Pollutant Discharge Wheatfield, NY, USA Elimination System (SPDES) permit, which also required development of a collection system hydraulic model and Lisa provided State Pollutant Discharge Elimination evaluation of the Sweetland Road Pumping Station and System (SPDES) permit compliance assistance to tributary area due to high flows and capacity issues. Lisa Niagara County Sewer District No. 1 (NCSD) for their conducted desktop engineering evaluations to determine Water Pollution Control Center (WPCC). This included the existing wet weather capacity of the WRRF and preparing the 2015 Annual Status Report for their ORF, their demonstrated performance, and develop wet Mercury Minimization Program. Lisa worked with the weather flow alternatives to mitigate ORF discharge NCSD staff to collect pertinent data and information, and events. Lisa also coordinated the Financial Capability prepare the status report for submittal to the New York Assessment (FCA) that considered the cost benefit and State Department of Environmental Conservation. affordability of the alternatives. West Side Interceptor Evaluation Career history Senior Project Engineer | 2015 - present GHD Town of Amherst | Amherst, NY, USA 2009 - Sep 2015 ARCADIS, U.S. Lisa assisted with alternatives analysis and report development for a study that examined various 1993 - 2009 Malcolm Pirnie, Inc. (acquired by alternatives and strategies to reduce surcharging during ARCADIS, U.S., Inc. in 2009) wet weather events within the West Side Interceptor (WSI) sewer in the Town of Amherst, with an added focus on infrastructure improvements to reduce I/I and accept future flows from redevelopment within an Amherst Opportunity Zone. This included looking at the impact the alternatives would have on flows to the Town’s Water Pollution Control Facility (WPCF) and onsite overflow retention basin (ORB) use.
