Village of Gowanda Summary of Water System Preliminary Engineer's Report ~ Project Status Update Augus 11, 2026 - Village Board Meeting Prepared: August 4, 2026 25310 - (V) Gowanda Water System Preliminary Engineer's Report © Site Visits and Meetings: o 04/14/26 - Village Board Meeting °o 07/10/26 ~ Review Preliminary Alternatives with Mark Burr 0 07/28/26 - Conf. call with Cattaraugus County DOH Bob Ring © 07/30/26 ~ Conf. call with DOH Bureau of Water Supply Protection Will Grady e Task 1: Engineering Study and Report o Hydrant flow testing was completed and existing condition water modeling completed for the system. o We have gained a good understanding of the current water system. We have assessed the condition and compliance of system assets. It should be noted that an overwhelming majority of deficiencies are due to the age of the water system. We have prepared four (4) alternatives to present in the PER to address the deficiencies within the water system: « Alternative 1 ~No Action: EFC Engineering Report Outline requires a “No Action” alternative to be presented. This altemative proposes the Village continue to maintain the current system. « Alternative 2 - Upgrades to Water System Infrastructure: Upgrades to the Village sources are proposed, this includes a new well house. This alternative proposes upgrades to existing water system and addresses minimum deficiencies. This alternative replaces problematic pipes within the distribution system. * Alternative 3 - New Treatment Plant and Finished Water Storage: Higher level of upgrades to the Village sources are proposed, this includes a new well house. This alternative proposes a new water treatment plant with new finished water storage tanks for reliable and resilient production of drinking water. This alternative replaces problematic pipes within the distribution system. « Alternative 4 - New Treatment Plant and Finished Water Storage w/ Additional Distribution Piping: Higher level of upgrades to the Village sources are proposed, this includes a new well house. This alternative proposes new water treatment plant with new finished water storage tanks for reliable and resilient production of drinking water. This alternative replaces problematic pipes, all piping smaller than 6” where fire protection is provided by the water system, and pipes greater than 75 years old. Lof2
