Village of Gowanda ~ Project Summary Sheet - August 11, 2026 o Preliminary Engineer’s Report is advancing in following areas: Project Background and History - Completed System Present Condition and Deficiencies ~ Completed Alternative Analysis - Preliminary alternatives have been assembled. Sizing of infrastructure, system calculations, and preliminary layouts are being developed. Cost analysis for alternatives is ongoing. Coordinating with vendors for pricing and space and power requirements. o Summary of Meeting with DOH Bureau of Water Supply Protection (7/30/26) The Village historically has had barium in its groundwater well source. Barium is known to be found in groundwater throughout the greater region. — The Village has previously blended sources to maintain barium levels below the maximum contaminant level (MCL) under permission from the DOH. DOH BWSP is now requiring projects receiving funds under DWSRF to have full flow treatment capabilities of contaminants. New equipment will be required to treat for barium at peak daily or design flow rates of the existing plant or new treatment plant.
