MEMORIAL TREES — SPECIES AND SIZE All memorial trees shall be selected and planted in accordance with applicable Village requirements and sound horticultural practices. The Village may maintain or utilize lists of desirable and prohibited tree species consistent with Chapter 240 of the Village Code. The Village shall have final authority over the species and size of a memorial tree. As a general guideline, memorial trees should be of a size comparable to trees used in the Village's regular street-tree planting program, generally approximately two-inch caliper or another size determined appropriate by the Department of Public Works. Very small or immature saplings may be rejected where their size would make establishment, protection or long-term maintenance impractical. Trees substantially larger than the Village's standard planting size may also be rejected where the size would materially reduce the likelihood of successful transplanting or establishment.
