8/4/2026 Board of Trustees, I am writing to request a permit for 6 egg-laying chickens in my backyard at 281 Olean St in the village of East Aurora. Chickens would occupy a chicken coop and fenced-in run at the back of my property and would be raised for the purpose of producing fresh eggs. My property extends back roughly 300 feet back from Olean St., and the hens would be located towards the back edge of my property. This area is not visible from the road. We would like to have chickens for a few reasons: • Fresh, high-quality eggs for our family of four • A fun and educational learning experience for our children • Raising chickens can be a source of entertainment and a fulfilling activity for our family, friends, and guests After reviewing the village code and consulting with the village office, I was provided with a list of properties that would need to sign off on our request in order to receive a permit without a public hearing. One or more of the properties on that list is currently unoccupied, including the abutting property at 297 Olean St. As such, I am requesting a public hearing for my request. I did obtain signatures from the owners of the two occupied houses within 225 feet of the proposed location, who are both in support. Respectfully, The Aures Family (Ryan, Virginia, Kara (14), and Cole (11))
