[DRAFT – for discussion purposes only] TO: Board of Trustees of the Village of East Aurora t FROM: Mayor Wochensky Formatted: Left: 0.4", Right: 0.4", Top: 0.4", Bottom: DATE: May 23, 2026 (updated August 1, 2026) 0.4" RE: Proposed bylaws for “Parks and Open Space Committee” The purpose of this document is to propose: (1) combining the Cazenovia Creek Committee and the Hamlin Park Committee into a single “Parks and Open Space Committee” that serves as an advisory committee to the Mayor and Board of Trustees on all existing and potential future parks in the Village of East Aurora (the “Village”). Considering the importance of Hamlin Park, I believe that most of the work of the Parks and Open Space Committee would consist of reviewing Hamlin Park and its future. Additionally, as we look to pursue a new comprehensive plan for the Village, another major purpose of this Parks and Open Space Committee would be to facilitate community conversations and feedback regarding the open space needs in our community and the upgrades needed (if any) to our park system. By combining these efforts, we will have the resources available to seek input by adding the required elements to public meetings and surveys. Hopefully, the comprehensive plan can include a Parks and Open Space Master Plan or a Hamlin Park Master Plan that is updated to include, e.g., a new playground. " Below is a first proposaldraft of for bylaws for thesuch a committee. If there is sufficient support for this initiative, we can II I' work on the drafting and send it to our attorney for reviewI propose voting on this at our August 17, 2026 meeting.
