Village of East Aurora Water System Improvements July 2026 SEQRA Part 3 Supporting Information 9.f. There are similar projects visible within the following distance of the proposed project: 0-1/2 mile, ½-3 miles, 3-5 miles, or 5+ miles. See the discussion under Section 9.a. Existing municipal water infrastructure is located throughout the Village of East Aurora and surrounding communities. The proposed improvements consist primarily of replacement and rehabilitation of existing public water system components within developed roadway corridors and existing utility facilities. As a result, the completed project will remain consistent with the existing visual character of the surrounding area and will not introduce a new or incompatible visual element. 10. Impacts on Historic and Archeological Resources 10.a. The proposed action may occur wholly or partially within, or substantially contiguous to, any buildings, archaeological site or district which is listed on the National or State Register of Historical Places, or that has been determined by the Commissioner of the NYS Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation to be eligible for listing on the State Register of Historic Places. The proposed project was submitted to the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation (NYSOPRHP) State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) through the Cultural Resource Information System (CRIS) for review. The project area includes several properties listed on the National Register of Historic Places, including the Original Fisher-Price Toys, Inc. building and historic properties located along Prospect Avenue. Portions of the eastern project area are also identified by SHPO as archaeologically sensitive. Consultation with SHPO will be completed during project development, and any recommendations or conditions resulting from the review will be incorporated into the project design and construction, as appropriate. By following SHPO’s recommendations and conditions, it is anticipated that the project will not result in any adverse impacts on cultural, historic, or archaeological resources or sites. 10.b. The proposed action may occur wholly or partially within, or substantially contiguous to, an area designated as sensitive for archaeological sites on the NY State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) archaeological site inventory. See response to 10.a., above. 11. Impacts on Open Space and Recreation 11.b. The proposed action may result in the loss of a current or future recreational resource. 9
