Town Board of the Town of Hamburg August 10, 2026 Meeting 4.18. Approval of Hamburg Police Department Tow Policy WHEREAS, the Town of Hamburg Police Department has established an orderly system for the safe and expeditious removal of motor vehicles form the streets of the Town of Hamburg when deemed necessary by the police department (“Tow Policy”); and WHEREAS, said Tow Policy acts also to supervise and control the operation of towing businesses that are granted permission to town vehicles for the Town of Hamburg Police Department; and WHEREAS, said Tow Policy includes qualifications for prospective tow operators and specific requirements that qualified town operators must comply with to be granted permission to tow vehicles for the Town of Hamburg Police Department; and WHEREAS, said Tow Policy does not prohibit owners or drivers of vehicles from contracting with any tow company of their choosing under appropriate circumstances; and WHEREAS, said Tow Policy includes maximum rates that may be charged by authorized tow companies for towing services; and WHEREAS, any tow operator that does not comply with said Tow Policy may have its permission to tow vehicles suspended; and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Town Board of the Town of Hamburg approves and authorizes the Hamburg Police Department Tow Policy including the schedule of maximum towing rates.
