East Aurora / Town of Aurora Police Department Interdepartmental Correspondence * Atthe Erie County Association of Chief's of Police December meeting, I was elected 1%t Vice-President as well. e There is now a SHARPS depository in the front lobby of the EAPD. This was done in cooperation with the Erie County Health Department. With needle and syringe use on the rise, especially with prescription weight loss medication use, this depository gives our local residents the convenience of safely depositing their used or unwanted needles and syringes. Detective Kilburn is assigned to handle this. He is responsible for safely removing the containers when full and delivering them to the Erie County Health Department. e [have recently signed a contract with Inmar Inc. to have a medication depository added to our front lobby. It will be positioned next to the SHARPS depository. This is a free service that will allow members of the community a safe place to discard unwanted or expired medication. The program provides the EAPD with a depository container, shipping boxes and pre-paid shipping labels. Detective Kilburn will monitor the amount of medication being discarded and then ship full boxes via FedEx in provided boxes with shipping labels, making it a light lift to be able to offer the community a safe place to deposit unwanted medications.
