Comprehensive Plan 23

Agriculture

0.3% of all parcels in the Town of Aurora are classified
as agricultural land uses. Historically, farming was
an important component of the land use, character,
and economy of Aurora; however, much of that land
has been converted to residential uses over the past
several decades. Prominent agricultural land uses
still present in the Town include the Strawberry Banks
Farm (equestrian breeding facility), several nurseries
and garden centers, and a few remaining family
farms. Overall, agricultural land uses cover 2.4% of
all landcover in the Town (508 acres). The true total
number of agricultural parcels and the total land area
they cover cannot be determined as a significant
portion of actively farmed land in the Town is classified
as vacant.

Recreation & Entertainment

Four parcels, or 0.1% of all parcels in the Town of
Aurora are classified as recreation & entertainment
land uses. These land uses include the Bob-o-Link
Golf Club, the East Aurora Country Club, The Blueberry
Treehouse Farm, and the Quaker Aurora Tennis Club.
Overall, recreation & entertainment land uses cover
0.5% of all land cover in the Town (106 acres). Parks
classified as Parks and Forested Land uses make up
0.8% of all parcels and cover 7.0% of all land cover in
the Town (1,458 acres). For information on parks and
other parcels dedicated to recreational uses, refer to
the Recreational, Historical, and Cultural Resources
Chapter.

Industrial

There is only one parcel throughout the entirety of
the Town of Aurora that is classified as an industrial
land use, the IRR Supply Center, which is a distributor
of parts for plumbing, heating, and cooling systems.
Within the Town’s only industrial zoning district along
Ellicott Rd, near the intersection of Davis Rd, there are
a number of industrial-like businesses such as Twinco,
Team Fabrication, and a manufacturing plant for Moog.
However, according to New York State tax parcel
codes, these businesses are considered commercial
as they are classified as storage and/or distribution
facilities, or office buildings.
