Comprehensive Plan 47

  Recreational, Historical, &
  Cultural Resources

The following sections provide an overview of the recreational, historical, and cultural resources within the
Town of Aurora, including parks and other recreational spaces, historic sites eligible to be included in the
National Register of Historic Places, and areas of cultural significance to the Town. Together these places
help shape the character of the Town and are attractions that bring visitors into the community.

Town Parks

J.P. Nicely Memorial Park

Located in the Hamlet of West Falls, J.P. Nicely
Memorial Park covers approximately 65 acres of land
along West Falls Road and is adjacent to the Aurora
Waldorf School. Amenities at the park include several
baseball fields, a basketball court, pickleball courts,
a small lodge and three picnic shelters, 2.25 miles
of walking trails, and tennis courts. J.P. Nicely Park is
also home to one of the Town’s Summer Day Camps,
where children ages 8-12 are exposed to a variety of
different sports and themed events.

West Falls Veterans Park & Community Playground

Located at the corner of Davis Road and Bridge
Street, Veterans Park covers approximately 1 acre of
land along the western side of the Cazenovia Creek
in the Hamlet of West Falls. This park is multifaceted
in that it provides a memorial to veterans of the West
Falls area as well as home to the West Falls Memorial
Day Parade ceremony. The parks also provide
daily recreational amenities such as seating, public
parking for nearby businesses, historic interpretive
signage about the community, and scenic views of
the Cazenovia Creek. Veterans Park is essential to
the character of West Falls as it both celebrates the
area’s past while providing direct access to one of the
community’s greatest assets, the Cazenovia Creek.

Located on the eastern side of Cazenovia Creek, the
West Falls Community Playground is found along W
Falls Rd and covers approximately 0.26 acres of land.
While the playground provides an area for families to
take their children for recreation, there is currently a
lack of sidewalks along West Falls Road which makes
accessing the playground difficult by foot.

Warren Drive Park

Located in Warren Drive in the Village of East Aurora,
the town park covers 2.5 acres of land, providing a
playground, a small picnic area, pickleball courts, and
athletic fields. The park also hosts a picnic shelter
that is rentable to host parties and events.
