48 Town of Aurora Majors Park Located just south of the Village of East Aurora, Majors Park covers 160 acres of land along Olean Rd (NYS Route 16). The primary feature of the park is the east branch of the Cazenovia Creek which bisects the park into a northern and southern half, inhibiting direct access between the two sections. The northern section of the park is primarily a wetland with a trail/boardwalk offering access throughout the wetland complex. The southern section of the park, which is only accessible from Hubbard Rd, offers trails through forests, meadows, and riparian habitats along Cazenovia Creek. Aurora Community Pool Park Aurora Community Pool Park is a 7-acre park found on the border between the Village of East Aurora and the Town of Aurora. The park is equipped with an outdoor pool and wading pool, a picnic shelter with picnic tables and grills, tennis and pickleball courts, a small playground, and several sports fields. Village Parks In addition to all the town-owned parks, both in the Town of Aurora and Village of East Aurora, there are several recreational spaces in the East Aurora that are managed by the Village. These spaces are also often frequented by Village and Town residents too. Hamlin Park One of the oldest parks in the Town, Hamlin Park was established in 1899 and covers 16-acres of land along S Grove Street. The park offers various amenities for all types of recreational activities, including two picnic shelters and a pavilion, several picnic tables, a volleyball court, a baseball court, a rotary bandstand, horseshoe pits, a half mile track, tennis and pickleball courts, a baseball diamond, and a multi- purpose sports field. Cazenovia Creek Nature Sanctuary The Cazenovia Creek Nature Sanctuary is a protected natural space located on the border between the Village and Town covering approximately 5.59 acres, 2.16 of which is in the Town of Aurora. Heavily forested with direct access to the Cazenovia Creek via rudimentary trails, the nature sanctuary seeks to provide space for the nourishment of native species of flora and fauna while also offering residents the opportunity to immerse themselves in nature. Sinking Pond Wildlife Sanctuary Located on the northern border of the Village, the Sinking Pond Wildlife Sanctuary covers approximately 73 acres of ponds, hills, and wetlands. Formed tens of thousands of years ago by glaciers, the site was purchased by the Village in 1930. The sanctuary today is a refuge for the area’s native species and while also providing limited trails and seating areas for visitors to appreciate the natural beauty of the area. Programming and maintenance at the park are provided by Friends of Sinking Ponds Wildlife Sanctuary.
