Cazenovia Creek

Cazenovia Creek is the primary waterway traversing through the
Town of Aurora and is comprised of two branches, the east and
west branches which join in the Village of East Aurora, before
joining the Buffalo River in the City of Buffalo. This waterway
holds significant cultural and historic value to the Town as it
was historically utilized for hydropower to run the various mills
that once existed in the Town’s hamlets. Today, the creek is
frequently utilized for recreation, such as fishing, kayaking, and
cooling off from the summer heat.

Owen Falls Sanctuary

Owen Falls Sanctuary is a 58-acre nature preserve managed by
the Western New York Land Conservancy. Located just south
of the Village of East Aurora, the sanctuary covers a portion
of Mann’s Creek as well as the woodlands, vernal pools, and
wetlands that surround it. The sanctuary also hosts a 1.4-mile
trail which provides spectacular views of two waterfalls and
various rare wildlife native to the region.

Mill Road Scenic Overlook

Located along Mill Road, the overlook provides picturesque
views of over 60 acres of land along the Town’s rolling hills.
While owned by the Town, the 60 acres, which include 18
acres of mature forest and over 30 acres of open meadows
and marshland, is maintained by the Western New York Land
Conservancy. Although there are no trails on the overlook, there
is a small parking area and benches so visitors can take in all
the excellent views.

Genesee Valley Land Conservancy Lands

The Genesee Valley Land Conservancy is a nonprofit group
whose mission is to protect the habitat, open space, and
farmland of the Genesee Valley region. While their focus is
primarily along the Genesee River, there are several parcels
within Aurora which are privately owned but forever preserved
as open space through conservation easements. Overall, these
preserved open spaces total 278 acres, most of which are
found west of the Route 400 expressway, however, there are
some also along Willardshire Rd near Knox Farm State Park.

West Falls Conservation Society

The West Falls Conservation Society is a 300-member
conservation club located in the Hamlet of West Falls, offering
opportunities for target shooting and sporting education.
In operation since 1943, the society also hosts competitive
leagues for various shooting sports in the spring and fall. The
society’s lands are significantly forested, which help contribute
to the natural and rural character of the area.

East Aurora Fish & Game Club

club founded in 1905. Situated on 76 acres of woodland and
